Choose based on the store you need to operate.

Snipcart is an established embedded-cart product designed to add ecommerce to many kinds of websites. WireGum is narrower: it is built around one merchant selling physical products through Stripe, with stock, orders, shipping and customer communication in one focused workflow.

If broad storefront features or an established ecosystem are your priority, Snipcart may remain the better fit. If you want predictable software pricing and a compact operations backend for a custom Stripe store, WireGum is worth testing.

This is a product-level summary, not a complete feature matrix. Requirements such as discounts, tax setup, subscriptions, customer accounts and migration should be checked individually before choosing either platform.

A fixed subscription instead of a percentage of sales.

WireGum Lite is €10 per month and Plus is €19 per month. WireGum does not charge a commission on sales. Stripe processing and any shipping-provider charges remain separate.

Snipcart currently publishes a 2% platform fee on monthly sales, with a minimum monthly fee of $20 when sales are below $1,000. At $2,500 in monthly sales, 2% is $50; at $5,000 it is $100. These examples explain the pricing model rather than suggesting that WireGum is built for unlimited operational scale. The products also bill in different currencies, so this is not a direct currency comparison.

Snipcart figures checked on 9 September 2026 against its official pricing page. Payment-processing fees are separate for both products.

The order is the beginning of the workflow, not the end.

WireGum is built around the work a small team does after checkout: confirm the order, keep stock accurate, choose a shipping method, buy a label or add manual tracking, and tell the customer what changed.

Product content and presentation remain on the website. Payments remain in Stripe. WireGum connects the two and gives the merchant a clear place to run daily commerce operations.

Test the workflow before you move anything.

Create a WireGum workspace, add a representative product and run a complete Stripe test checkout. Check the product model, shipping setup, emails and order workflow with the person who will operate the store. Choose a paid plan only when the production storefront is ready.

WireGum does not promise a one-click Snipcart migration. Catalog CSV import can reduce setup work, but storefront markup and product references need to be reviewed as part of the integration.

A few practical questions

Is WireGum a drop-in replacement for Snipcart?

No. The integration model is similar, but the product model and operational workflow are different. Test WireGum with a representative product before migrating a live store.

Does WireGum charge a transaction fee?

No. WireGum charges a fixed monthly subscription rather than a percentage of store sales. Stripe processing and shipping-provider charges remain separate.

Can I keep my existing website?

Yes. WireGum sits behind a CMS, static site or custom frontend. The website continues to own product pages, content, SEO and design.

What happens when an order is paid?

WireGum records the order, updates stock and supports fulfillment through a connected shipping provider or manual tracking. It also sends order and shipping-status emails.
